Howard Kendall is Everton's most successful ever manager. In 1984/85 Everton won the League Championship, finishing 13 points clear of runners-up Liverpool and the Cup Winners Cup. In 1986-87 Everton won the League again, nine points clear of Liverpool as the Blues continued its stranglehold on the English game. Howard Kendall still remains the last English manager to win a European trophy with an English club.

Dave Watson guided Everton's "Dogs of War" to a historic FA Cup Final victory against Manchester United in the 95 FA Cup Final. Paul Rideout headed his 16th goal of the season after Stuart's shot cannoned back off the cross-bar for what proved the winning goal . Everton had to turn to legendary goalkeeper Neville Southall to keep Giggs, Hughes and Scholes at bay and as the final whistle blew at the famous twin towers the cup was bound for Goodison Park for the fifth time. |
